                   AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AND ABANDONING ALLEYS
                   LOCATED SOUTHWEST FROM NORTHROP STREET,
                   NORTHWEST OF CROMPTON STREET, MORE PARTICULARLY
                   DESCRIBED HEREIN, UPON CERTAIN CONDITIONS.

              	   SECTION 1.  BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
         CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That there be and is hereby 
closed
         and abandoned alleys located southwest from Northrop Street,
         northwest of Crompton Street, more particularly described 
herein,
         and as shown on plat attached hereto and made a part hereof by
         reference:
                Alleyways varying in width, and beginning on the
                southwest line of Northrop Street some 191.8 feet
                northwest of the intersection of the southwest line
                of Northrop Street with the northwest line of
                Crompton Street, said point being the northwest
                corner of lot 38A, Lupton City Subdivision, as
                shown by plat of record in plat book 18, page 74,
                ROHC, thence southwest some 91.7 feet with the
                northwest line of said lot 38A, and continuing with
                the northwest line of lot 77A, said subdivision, to
                the northwest line of a 15 foot wide alleyway,
                thence southwest some 150 feet with the northwest
                line of said 15 foot alleyway to the south- east
                corner of lot 74A, thence northwest some 196.5 feet
                with the northeast line of lots 74A and 41 to the
                southwest line of Northrop Street, thence southeast
                some 13 feet with Northrop Street to the northwest
                corner of lot 40A, thence with the southwest line
                of lot 40A southeast 16 feet to the southwest
                corner thereof, and southeast 72.7 feet to the
                southeast corner thereof, thence northwest 54 feet
                with the northeast line of lot 40A to the southwest
                line of Northrop Street, thence southeast some 6
                feet with Northrop Street to the northwest corner
                of lot 40, thence with the southwest line of lot 40
                southeast some 57 feet to the southwest corner
                thereof, and southeast 63.4 feet to the southeast
                corner thereof, thence northeast 118.8 feet with
                the southeast line of lots 39 and 38 to the
                southeast corner of lot 38, thence north- east 66
                feet with the southeast line of lot 38 to the
                southwest line of Northrop Street, being the
                northeast corner of lot 38, thence southeast some
                13 feet with Northrop Street to the northwest
                corner of lot 38A, the point of beginning.  Tax Map
                No. 118F-E-1-6, 46, and 48.
               
               
               
              	   SECTION 2.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That this closure
         and abandonment is made subject to the following conditions:
                1. The City of Chattanooga has a sewer located
                   within said right-of-way and reserves an
                   easement the width of the right-of-way for the
                   purpose of maintaining said sewer.
               
                2. The areas reserved for utility easements must be
                   kept free and clear of all structures.
               
                3. All existing easements are retained.
               
              	   SECTION 3.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That this 
Ordinance
         shall take effect two weeks from and after its passage as 
provided
         by law.
